TRACES OF ELSEWHERE: Stories of Migration and Memory

Migration and Memory is a collaborative project by Teresa Chen and Obaydul Kabir Rikto that brings together two different perspectives on migration and its lasting impact.

Teresa uses family photographs from her mother, who fled China as a refugee and later immigrated to the United States.
Rikto’s installation grows out of his own experience of migrating from Bangladesh, as
well as conversations with others who have left–or feel they have had to leave–their homes to build new lives in Europe and
Switzerland.
Together, the project reflects
on the ways memory, displacement, and personal histories continue to shape identity.
